Costume Design and Construction

Pippin was produced by Noisy Visuals at Wesleyan University in my senior spring. I challenged myself to design and construct the costumes for the production. 10+ yards of fabric, fabric sourcing in multiple states, and 4 weeks later, this musical contained 14+ constructed costumes. It was doublets galore!

Senior Capstone Costume Design and Construction for Theatre

My senior capstone was an exploration of costume design installation as it relates to my identity. It became an exploration of new techniques, including hand beading on a bodice, and maximalist headpiece making from scratch. Some materials were rather unconventional. Many “feathers” on the skirt of the ornate hawk-eagle were constructed using sheets of packing foam. The quetzal headpiece used materials such as EVA foam, pipe cleaners, and pompoms. The capstone was a tedious process and many changes were made throughout the 3 month process, from design to creation.
